Ellen Weintraut has practiced law since 2005 and practices exclusively in Immigration law.  Ms. Weintraut is a member of the Oregon State Bar, American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Oregon Chapter of AILA, and the Oregon Women Lawyers (OWLS).  She currently serves on the Pro Bono and Unlawful Practice of Law Committees with Oregon AILA, as well as the Unlawful Practice of Law Committee with the Oregon State Bar.

Ms. Weintraut is a graduate of the Tulane University School of Law.  She received her undergraduate degree from Drury University.

Ms. Weintraut has handled hundreds of cases before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), formerly known as United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), and now a component of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.  Ms. Weintraut has negotiated releases of individuals before U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), formerly known as INS, and now a component of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.  Ms. Weintraut has handled many Immigration proceedings before the U.S. Department of Justice, Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR).  She has also handled appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) and Administrative Appeals Office (AAO).  Ms. Weintraut has extensive trial experience after having handled many federal court trials.  Ms. Weintraut is licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court of Oregon and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Ms. Weintraut has handled numerous cases before the various U.S. Consulates throughout the world. Ms. Weintraut handles family Immigration cases, deportation and removal cases, Immigration bond cases at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma and other Detention Centers, visas for families and businesses, and waiver cases for Immigration benefits.  While her experience is varied, Ms. Weintraut primarily manages the litigation section of the Firm.

Ms. Weintraut has provided Immigration trainings on varied topics to attorneys and other members of the community.  She has also been a speaker at Immigration law conferences throughout the region.  Ms. Weintraut speaks Spanish proficiently.
